HAF Fans

Stagnant air is one of the quietest causes of crop trouble. Without horizontal air movement, you get cold pockets, leaf wetness that lingers into the night, and microclimates that invite botrytis and powdery mildew. HAF fans keep air circulating through the canopy, evening out temperature and humidity across the bay so every plant grows in the same conditions, and your heating and dehumidification equipment works less to maintain them.

  • Even Air Means Even Crops

Cold spots and humid corners produce uneven growth, staggered flowering, and inconsistent finish dates. Continuous horizontal air movement breaks up those microclimates so the plants on the north end and the plants on the south end experience the same growing conditions.

    Drier Leaves, Less Disease

Botrytis, powdery mildew, and downy mildew thrive on still, humid air sitting on leaf surfaces. Moving air keeps the canopy drier and shortens the window of leaf wetness after irrigation or during overnight humidity spikes.

    Stronger Plants, Less Stretch

Plants that experience consistent air movement build thicker stems and shorter internodes. Liners, plugs, and finished crops come out more compact, more uniform, and easier to ship without damage.

    Less Strain on Climate Equipment

When the air column mixes properly, heaters, dehumidifiers, and exhaust systems stop fighting stratification. Heat reaches the floor instead of pooling at the gutter, and humidity gets carried out instead of settling into pockets.

We're here to help.

A common starting point is enough fan capacity to move roughly 25 percent of your greenhouse air volume per minute, arranged so air travels the length of the bay and returns in a horizontal loop. Spacing depends on the throw of the fan you pick and the dimensions of your bay. Send your bay dimensions and crop type to an AdeptAg specialist and we'll size it for you.
HAF fans are suspended above the crop, typically in pairs or sets that push air down one side of the bay and back the other. The goal is one continuous horizontal loop that keeps air moving past every plant. They aren't tied to ventilation cycles, so they can run independently of your exhaust and intake equipment.
Most operations run them continuously to keep air mixing even when heating or ventilation is idle. That's where variable-speed fans like the Priva EcoFan+ pay off: they keep air moving at low speed during cool nights and quiet periods, dropping electrical draw without leaving the canopy still.
