Small Soil System

Designed for small to mid-size operations, this system blends peat moss, HydraFiber®, and additives at rates up to 25 cubic yards per hour. A bale shaver, HydraFiber Expander, and chemical hoppers efficiently process compressed materials and dispense micronutrients. An intuitive control system allows operators to adjust blend ratios with precision.
The control system allows operators to easily adjust the percentage of each component to create their desired mix. For example, a blend consisting of 60% peat moss and 40% HydraFiber, with the desired pounds per cubic yard of micronutrients. All bulk materials and micronutrients are thoroughly combined in the soil processor to ensure a consistent mix. After processing, the completed blend can be conveyed via an incline conveyor to feed a single potting machine (as shown) or distributed to multiple destinations through additional conveyors.

Whether it’s peat or pre-mix, the VBT Bale Shaver delivers consistent media texture and flow from the top of the bale to the bottom. The palletized bale is placed inside the machine, the doors are closed, then an elevator feeds the bale into the horizontal scraper that acts as a harrow to evenly extract the peat or pre-mix layer-by-layer. Improved processing maximizes compressed bale yield and moisture content consistency.
